I am a graduate of Shelby High School (Shelby, NC) and alumni of Johnson C. Smith University (Charlotte, NC)!
Mary Catherine Grooms and Maya Feemster-Jones listened to my inquires of the league and offered to introduce me, which I am super grateful!
Hobbies include- event planning, tennis, traveling with family and friends, art, wine and activity seeking. I love working within the community. I serve as a Mentor with Gaston County Schools and absolutely love taking my lunch break to be the beacon of sunshine for his day. I hold random experiences such as chauffeuring, which allowed me to meet some pretty cool individuals.
Lately I’ve been working on my passion of event planning but sparked back in 2015. Cheers to more community work, fellowship and servanthood!
Kaitlin Petruska
Hi there! I’m Kaitlin Petruska. I am SO pumped about Junior League. I’ve grown up hearing about Junior League, but I always thought it was for the super elite and rich. When Jaime Friday introduced me to it a few years ago I was intrigued but never bit the bullet until now.
I grew up in Gaston County, and graduated from Meredith College in 2014. After graduation I lived in India serving children who had been abandoned due to their special or medical needs. Upon returning from India I took a job in the school system as a special education teacher assistant at Webb Street and fell in love with teaching. I decided to go to grad school at UNCC for my Special Education Teaching license and I am now a 1st year Special Education teacher in a SAC class at Carr Elementary.
Y’all, I was the girl who NEVER thought she’d move back to Gaston County after college. And yet here I am, living in my loft apartment with my two cats less than 10 minutes away from my parents.
I’m ready to finally get involved and to give back to this community, meet friends, and have fun!
amy rowland
I’m Amy Rowland. I am a Certified and Registered Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA) and I have been encouraged to join the Junior League by Kara Timmons. Kara and I went to Anesthesia school together and work along side one another providing Anesthesia care at Atrium Health in Charlotte.
I grew up here in Gaston county; the first half of my youth in Gastonia and the second half in Cramerton. I come from a large family of which I am the oldest of 5 siblings. I attended Gaston Day School for my primary education followed by attaining my BSN from Queens University and finally my MSN from UNC-Charlotte. My husband and I are high-school sweethearts and we live on about 20acres of property in Stanley with our two beautiful children, Katie Paige (3y) and William (1y). During my few rare quiet moments I am an avid reader and painter, but these days my attention is captured by whirlwind of life with my two littles and just trying to enjoy each day with my family and friends.
I look forward to getting to know each of you with the Junior League of Gaston County!
